I randomly stumbled across the track Fluorescences which lead me to Arp's long player Zebra. I normally have a very low tolerance for anything remotely new age/world music revivalist, but this really got under my skin.
In a similar vein, and perhaps preparing the ground for Arp, I've been enjoying Kuniyuki Takahashi's Early Tape Works 1986 - 1993 Vol 2 on Music From Memory recently. Taken straight from an era that Arp's Zebra subtly references, Early Tape Works seems to transcend a lot of the tropes of its time, possibly due to Takahashi's clearly thoughtful production.
It took me a while to connect the two aliases of Skee Mask's Bryan Müller aka SCNTST. But listening back it makes perfect sense. For someone so early in their career Müller demonstrates a deep understanding and love of the music he references. Compro is a masterclass in 90's electronics with a contemporary bent.
